Happy (Absent) Mother's Day

Mother's Day
For Mom Becky, Penny, Annaliese & Diane

All of you Mothers and future Mothers. I have to congratulate you now because I'll be gone on May 8th. Because of our cruise, I'll either be out of the country(Canada) or in Alaska. I have loved being a mother and admire the work Becky and Annaliese put into raising my beautiful granddaughters.

Reread President Uchtdorf's talk, it reminds me of each of you:

The Remarkable Soul of a Woman: With loving insight, President Dieter F. Uchtdorf addresses two attributes that contribute to our Heavenly Father's perfect happiness - the power of creation and service with compassion. As a treasured daughter of our Heavenly Father, you can develop those remarkable abilities as well as find happiness in the journey.

By listening to the Spirit, you can come to realize that creating is not just done with paint, pen, or pottery, and compassionate service is more than a casserole or a card. As you bring something into existence that has never been before and as you serve others - even in small ways - you cannot help but participate in the wonder that is God's joy.

"The desire to create is one of the deepest yearnings of the human soul. No matter our talents, education, backgrounds, or abilities, we each have an inherent wish to create something that did not exist before. Everyone can create…Creation brings deep satisfaction and fulfillment. We develop ourselves and others when we take unorganized matter into our hands and mold it into something of beauty ...Creation means bringing into existence something that did not exist before—colorful gardens, harmonious homes, family memories, flowing laughter. What you create doesn’t have to be perfect…Don’t let fear of failure discourage you. Don't let the voice of critics paralyze you-whether that voice comes from the outside or the inside. If you still geel incapable of creating, start small. Try to see how many smiles you can create; write a letter of appreciation; learn a new skill; identify a space and beautify it."

My mother never gave up on me. I messed up in school so much they were sending me home, but my mother sent me right back. -Denzel Washington

I remember my mother's prayers and they have always followed me. They have clung to me all my life. -Abraham Lincoln

My mother had a slender, small body, but a large heart - a heart so large that everybody's joys found welcome in it, and hospitable accommodation. -Mark Twain
